Stand in the light of your greater becoming. Surrender to the flow of life wishing to move through you.
~ Marianne Williamson
Three fundamental components of "real" change are:
Awareness, Acceptance, and Action
Step 1: Awareness
We cannot heal and evolve without awareness. Expanding our awareness about what is going on within our internal environment (our own body-mind) and our external environment (other people and the world around us) is essential in order for growth to occur.
BodyTalk is an invitation to take time out of your busy schedule and allow the practitioner to tune into your body-mind with the specific intention of highlighting and balance what comes up as a priority issues.
What is necessary to change a person is to change his awareness of himself.
~ Abraham Maslow
Step 2: Acceptance
Acceptance is the opposite of resistance and denial. Acceptance is not the same as resignation. We cannot heal without some form of acceptance of our present situation. If we're in denial or non-acceptance of an addiction, for example, we'll have a hard time moving forward. In order to open ourselves to acceptance of where we're at, it helps to meet ourselves with as much kindness as we can muster. In terms of acceptance of others, it's helpful to keep in mind that people are doing the best they can, based on their level of awareness.
Often we think that resisting what is now will somehow get us faster to a desired future outcome. This just doesn't work. To get a better understanding of what I mean, take time for this short video by Jeff Foster about saying "yes" to life.
When I argue with reality, I lose - but only 100 % of the time.
~ Byron Katie
Change happens with more ease when you meet yourself with acceptance where you're at, even if where you're at is a place you don't want to be. Sometimes we need to start with accepting our non-acceptance. Accepting that we're at a place where we don't accept. This can be healing in itself.
Step 3: Action
No matter how much you meditate, do affirmations, focus on what you want rather than what you don't want...eventually you need to act on your inner guidance, on your awareness, on your knowing in order to create real change. Sometimes, an insightful aha can naturally lead to healing. Yet, there was likely an action step prior to the new insight, like reading a thought-provoking book, taking a workshop, or perhaps having a BodyTalk session.
You miss 100 percent of the shots you never take.
~ Wayne Gretzky
